PlantX Life unveils new partnership with renowned celebrity plant-based chef Matthew Kenney

PlantX Life Inc (CSE:VEGA) (OTCMKTS:PLTXF) (FRA:WNT1) has revealed it is partnering with leading plant-based chef Matthew Kenney and his lifestyle brand in a series of deals that will expand the Canadian company’s vegan food offering. Kenney will join Vancouver-based PlantX as its new chief culinary officer through a five-year partnership with his plant-based company MK Cuisine Global LLC (MKC). PlantX said it has also inked a deal to acquire Kenney’s California retail location Plant-Based Deli LLC, known as New Deli, for around US$1.6 million in cash and shares. READ: PlantX Life reports record monthly revenue of nearly C$1.6M in March As part of the transaction, PlantX’s existing brick-and-mortar retail locations will be rebranded as New Deli by PlantX, operated by MKC, which will allow the firm to focus its energies on expanding its eCommerce operations throughout North America and Europe. Kenney is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute and has opened a number of successful restaurants in New York and the US East Coast, earning him a number of awards and nominations as Rising Star Chef from the James Beard Foundation. In a statement, PlantX said that Kenney will “combine his business acumen and vision for plant-based cuisine to revolutionize the culinary department” at PlantX. Kenney will take the lead in PlantX’s meal delivery service and be responsible for product selection design. The new chief culinary officer will also support initiatives at PlantX’s retail locations in San Diego, California; Squamish, British Columbia and Tel Aviv, Israel. PlantX founder Sean Dollinger called Kenney “the godfather of vegan cuisine.” “Matthew will provide invaluable wisdom that should give PlantX a competitive edge in the fast-growing plant-based space,” Dollinger said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have Matthew bring his cutting-edge vision and talent to PlantX,” added Julia Frank, PlantX CEO. “In joining PlantX as Chief Culinary Officer, he will undoubtedly transform our culinary process.” Kenney said that he and his team were “thrilled” to be joining PlantX and expanding their presence through the partnership. “We are looking forward to sharing our passion and expertise with the PlantX community,” the chef said. PlantX styles itself as the digital face of the plant-based community with a one-stop destination for all things plant-based, like an online shop and meal delivery services. The online shop houses over 5,000 vegan products, and its recently-added meal service delivers chef-created dishes straight to the doors of western Canada.
